Sugar 2.0 + Probiotics at the Forefront of Innovation

Sugar 2.0 + Probiotics, Purely Elizabeth, Melt and other innovative food products are changing the way we think about food at the 40th annual Sosland Publishing Purchasing Seminar.

KANSAS CITY, MO (PRWEB) June 06, 2017 – Foods 2.0, LLC., a California based functional foods company, is highlighted in this year’s Purchasing Seminar food trends and it wants you to love sugar again. Its products, Sugar 2.0 and Sugar 2.0 + Probiotics, even display that message prominently on its packaging.

In 2015 the World Health Organization (WHO) announced that it is cutting its recommended sugar intake for adults in half, from the original 10 percent of total daily calories to five percent. For the average adult, that’s about 25 grams or 6 teaspoons a day (1).

“When we launched in 2015, so many people told us we were crazy to put that message out, especially with sugar getting such a bad rap,” said Trong Nguyen, CEO and founder of Foods 2.0. “Sugar isn’t the enemy, but excessive sugar consumption is. By blending sugar with prebiotic soluble fiber, the sugar content is reduced by half, and the fiber creates a perfect delivery system that helps to slow the absorption of sugar.”

Its second product, Sugar 2.0 + Probiotics also offers a real cane sugar product that is a healthier one-to-one replacement for regular sugar, making it easy to use in cooking and baking. It also adds high heat resistant probiotics. “The pairing of real cane sugar, prebiotic fiber and probiotics for gut and immune support is truly a marriage made in heaven,” continued Nguyen. “Prebiotic + Probiotic = Synbiotic!”(2)

“Sugar reduction should be innovation rather than policy driven,” states Christoph Boettger, recently appointed as a board member of global food company Beneo. “Replacing sugar with healthier alternatives has become a requirement from the consumer and heavy trends for better nutrition and reduced sugar intake should be driving the market, rather than government pushing for taxes and legislation to curb sugar consumption.”

The seminar will be held June 4-6 at the Sheraton hotel Kansas City at Crown Center, with over 840 industry leaders expected to attend the event. More than 20 speakers will be featured, with Sugar 2.0 + Probiotics in the Food Trends presentation.
